No Reentry Southbound

One day as I was travelling down the highway we call life,
I saw a roadblock up ahead, made up of sin and strife.
I was going much too fast to stop, and crashed right through it all.
It did its damage, took its toll, like a giant wrecking ball.
Next thing I remember, was I came upon a sign.
I then slowed down to read it, as behind me was a line.
"NO REENTRY SOUTHBOUND" , said the exit sign ahead,
Then I signaled my intentions, to discover where it led.
The rest stop at the corner there invited me to stay,
With billboards flashing day and night "Come in, kneel down and pray"

Still hurting from the injuries of sin and strife before,
I stopped and went inside to rest, perchance to find out more.
The people there kept telling me a man had died for me
So many years ago, upon a tree at Calvary.
No more would I continue down the path that I was on,
The days of darkness, sin and strife, henceforth are now all gone.
The great news they were telling me seemed too good to be true,
A love too great to comprehend, more than I ever knew.
For God so loved the world He gave His one and only Son.
Whoever shall believe in Him, a new life has begun.
"NO REENTRY SOUTHBOUND" were now more than words to me-
A new direction in my life, for Christ had set me free.
